Kim's House Aromatherapy House Party

Here is the group blending on Kim's porch last Sunday. It looks like they were figuring out which of the Essential oils would make a luscious and effective Salt scrub.

The mineral rich Dead Sea Salts from Israel combined with Organic JoJoba Oil created a wonderful exfoliating base to blend with Essential oils. The Jojoba is very similar to our own body oil and will penetrate deeply while the salts will enrich our systems with their minerals.

And wait, there's more, the Essential oils we explored added another whole layer of skin nourishing benefits.

Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) is moisturizing for the skin at the same time as it helps with fluid retention by stimulating the lymphatic system. It can smooth out hormone production and you know what that helps, pms, menapause etc. etc. The aroma is uplifting and delightfully floral.

Palmarosa(Cymbopogon Martini) addresses many skin issues, balancing our own sebum, it's anti-infectious and fungal and people find it very calming to the nervous system.

Frankincense(Boswellia carterii) has been used in skin care products for centuries. It is particularly helpful with dry aging skin. Not to mention its deep resinous aroma that calms not only the skin but our minds and muscles. It is one of my everyday oils. It even calms respiratory conditions.

These were only three of the six Essential oils we played with. Everyone made a Salt scrub and a personalized Body lotion.

One of the recipes for Body Lotion was:

Jasmine
Lemon
Palmarosa

I will return with more tales of fabulous Essential oil and their nourishing benefits. I have some suggestions on how to navigate the cold and Flu season.

Peace,
Nancy

Fun House Party

Hello Again,

It's been awhile since I've posted because I have been away in Maine. Which is like living in a constant diffuser. Just walking outside I'm bathed in the aroma of Conifers. On my property alone I have 5 different species of Spruce, Pine and Fir it's absolutely yummy.

When I arrived back in Florida I began to put together an idea a friend of mine has been wanting to do. She's loves the Essential oils that I've introduced her to and wanted to learn more about them. She thought it would be fun to do that with friends. Last Sunday it all came together and we had a blast. She invited a group of her friends over to her house and I brought all the materials needed for everyone to custom blend three luscious and effective Essential oil products.

Kim wanted to focus on skincare and a healthy, non-chemical cleaning spray. Using 6 skin supportive Essential oils these five woman created incredibly unique Lotions and Salt scrubs. At the same time they learned how and why Essential oils work, how to know if the oils they're buying are pure, therapeutic grade Essential oils and safe blending techniques so that they could begin to explore Essential oils on their own.

One of the woman thought it would be fun to have another House party and focus on Holiday products. So I'm having fun thinking of the aromas that would spark Holiday memories;
Evergreen, peppermint, Frankincense and Myrrh. Even some products to help ease and calm the possible Holiday stress. Not to mention keeping us strong and healthy through the cold and flu season.

If you would like to host a house party let me know, it's really easy. We can do it at your house or mine. (I have a great studio to play in). It would cost each person $40.00 and they would get to make three products that you could choose from long list of ideas that I have put together (or one that you might have). They would also get a manual that has lots of information and resources about Essential oils including other recipes.

I'll be posting pictures of our Sunday group and some of their blends.

Talk with you soon,
Nancy

Bug Repellant

I'm sitting in my back yard enjoying my morning tea and the mosquitos are very pleased I am. I don't want to be ungracious about their company but I'd rather sip my tea alone. So I put together a very effective blend of essential oils for a safe bug repellant. I add the oils to water, shake well and spray on.
Cedarwood - Juniperus virginiana
Juniper Berry - Juniperus communis
Patchouli - Pogostemon cablin
Eucalyptus Citriodora - Euc. citriodora

I list the latin names so that you can locate the most effective Essential oil. Eucalyptus has a number of species. We mostly think of it as something that helps clear our heads when we have a cold (Eucalyptus globulus) but the citriodora species is very lemony smelling and a great bug repellant.

Try different ratios of each oil to see which is most effective for you and your biting bugs. You wont need more than a total of 24 drops in 4 ounces of water. You will need to shake the bottle well before you spray, because it is oil and water, and you'll want to spray yourself frequently.

I have almost finished my tea and the day calls. I hope you have a great one and a bug free one.
